I AM SOPHIE WOLAK, PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED PASTRY CHEF.
I HAVE LIVED IN EDINBURGH SINCE 2011 AND SUGAR IS MY LIFE.
AS A CHILD, I USED TO SPEND HOURS WATCHING MY SWEET MAMIE COOKING, SHE WAS A CHEF BEFORE SHE BECAME A FULL TIME AMAZING GRANNY.
BECAUSE I WANTED TO FOLLOW IN HER FOOTSTEPS, AT 15 YEARS OF AGE, I BECAME AN APPRENTICE CHEF. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. COOKING AND BAKING IS IN MY BLOOD.
WHILST TRAINING I WAS ASKED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN BECOMING A CHEF OR A PASTRY CHEF. LIKE MY MAMIE, WHO LOVED BOTH, COOKING AND PASTRY, I WAS NEVER ABLE TO DECIDE SO I WORKED HARDER AND HARDER TO BECOME BOTH CHEF AND PASTRY CHEF.
I HAVE WORKED MOSTLY IN HIGH END AND MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANTS.
AFTER GRADUATING CHEF SCHOOL WITH HONOURS AND AWARDED AS ONE OF THE BEST APPRENTICE IN FRANCE, I MOVED TO IRELAND AND THEN SHORTHLY AFTER TO SCOTLAND. THIS IS WHERE I MET MY HUSBAND,WHO IS ALSO A CHEF, AND STARTED A FAMILY. WE HAVE TWO CHILDREN.
THEY LOVE TO WATCH ME COOK AND BAKE AND LISTEN TO STORIES ABOUT THEIR GREAT NANA.
MY PASSION IS TO THINKING ABOUT HOW TO CREATE SOMETHING TASTY IN ORDER TO LIGHT UP PEOPLE'S EYES AND BRING DELIGHT TO THEIR TASTEBUDS, EVEN IF IT IS JUST WITH A CRUMB.
