I AM SOPHIE WOLAK,CRAZY PATIONATE FRENCH CHEF LIVING IN EDINBURGH SINCE 2011 AND SUGAR IS MY LIFE.AS A CHILD I USED TO SPEND HOURS WATCHING MY SWEET MAMIE COOKING, SHE USED TO BE A CHEF BEFORE TO BECOME FULL TIME AMAZING GRANNY,
I STARTED A CHEF APPRENTICESHIP WHEN I WAS 15, THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE, COOKING/BAKING IS IN MY BLOOD. DURING MY SCOLARSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN COOKING OR PASTRYING , THAT A CHEF CAN'T ALSO BE A PASTRY CHEF, AT THAT TIME AS I NEEDED TO CHOOSE I PICKED CHEFFING.
AFTER GRADUATING CHEF SCHOOL WITH HONORS AND AWARDED AS ONE OF THE BEST APPRENTICE OF FRANCE, I MOVED TO IRELAND WHERE I MET ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED PASTRY CHEF, SHE TAUGHT ME SO MUCH AND PASTRY WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. IT 'S AMAZING TO THINK HOW TO CREATE SOMETHING TASTY AND LIGHT UP PEOPLE'S EYES, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT SUGAR DOES, IT BRINGS SMILES ...
I have 15 years of professional catering experience, when i was an apprentice i was thirsty to learn more and from the best, new recipes and new techniques.
Able to understand the science.
I wanted to learn from differents places, from hotels, brasseries, bakery and michelin star restaurants to be able to understand not only this job but all of the aspects, to live my passion at its fulliest and to provide my customers the best that been put in my hands.
I moved to Edinburgh 8 years ago, i was working as a sous chef in a french awarded restaurant in town. I met the love of my life and from this love came two amazing little humans.
The Sweet crumbs was born to combine the best of both worlds, being able to watch my babies grow and exercise this passion to keep bringing a smile on someone's face, even if it is just with a crumb.
